K. W. Blaxter, Colonial Office, Downing Street, London, S.W.1.

Dear Mr. Blaxter,

In thanking you for your letter of the 23rd instant may I say once again how very much I appreciate the trouble you have taken on my behalf.

I quite understand the position with regard to the Hong Kong appointment and I wrote to the Crown Agents last night to say that unless an exception. could be made in my case and my wife could be allowed to accompany me to the Colony, I would not wish for my application to be considered further. If, however, it is found that the vacancies cannot be satisfactorily filled with unmarried candidates, I should be eager to be considered again.

With many thanks once again for the interest which you have shown.

Yours sincerely,

Edgar Sluathias

EGM/BS.
